An Immersive Experience in Provence & Luberon
La Maison de Beaumont’s residency aims to provide its residents with a holistic experience, allowing them to fully disconnect from their usual point of reference and immerse themselves into the Provençal lifestyle, the essence of which is beauty, simplicity, quality and tranquility. The Luberon region is a special part of Provence which has been so well preserved that it feels like one has travelled back in time. The village of Beaumont-de-Pertuis itself is a medieval town dating back to the 11th century. The town was built on high grounds, surrounded by vineyards, lavender fields and forested hills, making it an ideal setting for meditative hikes and exploration. Our Former Residents have reported feeling revived and inspired after the residency, which brought clarity and focus into their artistic work as well as their personal lives.
La Maison de Beaumont’s main building is an 18th century village house (built adjacent to the village’s main church, it once served as the village’s Elementary School) and underwent more than 3 years of renovation. Each resident is provided with a fully renovated individual apartment (with private bathroom and kitchen) ensuring a higher level of comfort and the ability to have a personal space throughout the residency. Residents may also have the chance to network and interact with other artists in the building’s common areas such as the Music & Exhibition Room, as well as the Common Terrace.
Concerts & Local Partnerships
La Maison de Beaumont provides residents with various exhibition opportunities, whether in the main vaulted room of the house, the fine arts atelier, or through our partnership with the local chapel. These events offer a wonderful chance to engage with the local community, create lasting memories, and showcase artwork through exhibitions, painting displays, or intimate concerts and recitals.
Expectations & Opportunities for residents
We expect each resident to enjoy the opportunities the residency offers and to :
- Be friendly to the local inhabitants of Beaumont-de-Pertuis while you are in residence
- Donate a piece of work to La Maison de Beaumont or hold a public presentation/exhibition during your stay. Specifics can be discussed during each prospective resident’s admission interview.
- Participate in promoting La Maison de Beaumont by tagging us in your social media posts and writing a thank you note on either your website, social media or the acknowledgements section of your publication (if applicable). We also recommend that while in residence, you add “Artist in Residence @Lamaisondebeaumont” on your Instagram profile.
- Appear on La Maison de Beaumont’s Instagram page and the Former Resident Artist section alongside a photo & short write-up regarding your stay.
- Occasionally help with welcoming other residents and if you are staying in the Provence unit, we might ask you to allow access to the kitchen for 2-3 hours the evening of our annual musical event usually held in the fall.
- We suggest that once during your stay (preferably shortly after your arrival) you treat the other residents to an “Apero”, either on the Common Terrace or in the Music Room (we are happy to provide the wine & appetizers, just let us know ahead of time !).
- Beginning in 2026, La Maison de Beaumont will introduce a Work-Study Program (for up to 3 Resident Artists per year) interested in contributing to the residency’s community life while helping to cover their own costs. Those wishing to participate should be prepared to dedicate up to 3 hours per week to activities like greeting new residents or organizing communal gatherings. Residents participating in the program will be given an a monthly allowance to cover part of their living costs.
